Recommending the Headway app to your clients

Updated

The Headway app for clients is now available on iPhone. Here's what it does, how clients can find it, and what changes for you.

What the app does for clients

  • Message you, with a notification when you reply
  • Join a Headway telehealth session with one tap
  • See their insurance cost details and deductible progress
  • Rebook with you directly
  • Get appointment reminders through push notifications

This is an early version of the app. We're adding more features over time.

Helping clients find the app

The app is new to the App Store, so it may not show up right away in search.

  • Search the full name, "Headway Therapy & Psychiatry," or
  • Go directly to the App Store listing

Device requirements: The app works on iPhones running iOS 18 or later. It isn't available on iPad or Android yet. If a client can't find the app, check that they're on a supported iPhone.

Who we've told about the app

We emailed active providers on September 24 so you'd hear about the app first. We haven't announced it to clients yet — we'll share a broader announcement once more features are added.

Recommending the app is up to you. There's nothing to set up, and clients who prefer the web can keep using headway.co as they do today.

What changes for you

Messages

Messages clients send from the app arrive in your Message Center in Sigmund. Reply the same way you do today.

Telehealth sessions

One-tap join works for Headway telehealth only. If you host sessions on Zoom, clients join with the link they already receive.

When a client joins a Headway telehealth session from the app, there's no waiting room — your client may already be on screen when you join.

Using the app yourself

The app is for clients only; there's no provider app yet. Keep using Sigmund for your schedule, notes, and messages.

Helping a client who's stuck

If a client says something in the app isn't working, point them to headway.co in their phone's browser. Everything in the app also works there, including joining a telehealth session.

If a client has questions about the app itself, share our client-facing article.
