You can now add new insurance plans to your practice directly from Headway. From your Insurance status page, the Add more plans tool shows you which plans you're eligible to join in the states you practice in along with the rates you'd earn, and also lets you start credentialing in just a few clicks.
How to add more plans
In the left-hand menu, go to Insurance status.
- Select Add more plans in the top right (see screenshot above)
- We'll check which plans are accepting new providers in your practice states and show you the ones you're eligible for, grouped by state (see screenshot below)
- Review each plan's eligibility label and rates (select View rates to see the full breakdown)
- Check the box next to each plan you'd like to join — you can select as many as you'd like
- Select Add plans to submit. That's it — we'll take it from there
Once you've submitted, your Insurance status page updates to show the new plans and where each one stands.
Understanding the eligibility labels
Each plan is labeled so you know exactly what to expect before you add it:
- Immediately eligible — You can start seeing clients with this plan right away, even before your credentialing is fully finalized. We complete the remaining steps in the background.
- Eligible — You qualify, and credentialing starts automatically as soon as you add the plan. We'll reach out only if we need anything from you.
- Eligibility check required — We need to verify a few details before credentialing can begin. Our team reviews these and typically follows up within about two weeks. You don't need to do anything in the meantime.
- Waitlist — This plan isn't accepting new providers right now. We'll add you to the waitlist and let you know when credentialing can begin.
You may also see a Frequently searched note on some plans — that means clients in your state often search for that plan, so joining it can help you reach more prospective patients.
Seeing your rates
For each plan, you'll see an estimated rate per session before you decide to join. Select View rates to expand a full breakdown by session type (for example, initial evaluations and follow-up sessions).
Rates are enhanced based on your specialty and state. Final amounts may vary by claim and modifier.
What happens after you submit
Immediately eligible plans: You're set to start seeing clients with that plan right away.
- Eligible plans: Credentialing begins automatically. You can track progress on your Insurance status page.
- Eligibility check required plans: Our team reviews your details (usually within about two weeks) and updates the status once confirmed.
- Waitlist plans: You'll stay queued and we'll notify you when the panel opens.
You can check the status of every plan any time from your Insurance status page, where each plan moves through Applied → Get credentialed → Get paid.
Frequently asked questions

- Immediately eligible: plans let you start right away.
- Eligible: plans begin credentialing automatically, and you can see clients once you're credentialed.
- Eligibility check required: our credentiling team will need to conduct additional checks before you can receive a timeline to get credentialed. You insurance status page will be updated within 2 weeks.

If you have any questions about the labels above, please reach out to our support team.
The list only shows plans you're eligible for but not yet part of, in the states you're licensed in. A plan might not appear for any of the reasons below:
- You're already credentialed with it (it'll be listed on your Insurance status page)
- It's in a state you're not yet licensed in
- The panel is currently closed to new providers
- You are not eligible for that plan
Not through this tool — it only covers plans in states you're already licensed in. Adding a new state is a separate step; reach out to us and we'll help you get started.
Removing a plan isn't available through this tool yet. If you'd like to stop working with a plan, contact us and we'll help.
Give Eligibility check required plans about a week for our team to review. For any plan, you can always check its current status on your Insurance status page. If something looks stuck beyond the expected timeline, contact us and we'll look into it.
