Using Violet and PESI for continuing education with Headway

Headway partners with PESI and Violet, to provide free, accredited continuing education to providers. There are over 145 hours of continuing education with 55 courses available across these platforms.

Accessing continuing education platforms from Headway Academy

To access these platforms within Headway Academy: 

1. Visit the Headway Academy homepage
2. In the navigation bar, click CE/CME
   
   
   

About PESI 

PESI is a leading provider of continuing education (CE) for mental health and healthcare professionals, partnering with Headway to offer CE credit. Through PESI, you can earn up to 90.5 CE hours through a range of seminars, conferences, and online certificates on specialized topics like youth mental health, trauma-informed care, provider wellness, psychopharmacology, and more.

Creating a PESI account

To access PESI, you'll need to create a free PESI account, or you can use an existing PESI account. To create a new PESI account:

1. Visit Headway Academy's PESI landing page
2. Click the Join PESI Portal button 
3. On the new page that opened, click Click here to join
4. On the sign in page, under Don't have an account?, click Sign Up
5. Fill out your information and click Create Account

 

Linking your account to Headway in PESI

Once you've created an account, you'll need to link it to the Headway PESI Portal. To do this: 

1. Visit Headway Academy's PESI landing page
2. Click the Join PESI Portal button 
3. Sign into your PESI account 
   1. If you don't have an account, you'll need to create one
4. Complete the Headway questions 
   • Select Yes to answer Are you an active Headway provider?
   • Enter your National Provider Identifier (NPI) 
     • If you need to look up your NPI, visit the NPPES NPI Registry search
5. Click Continue to be redirected to all the available courses

 

 

Visiting PESI after linking your account

1. Visit Headway Academy's PESI landing page
2. Click the Log in button 
3. Sign into your PESI account using the login information you linked with PESI + Headway
4. You'll be taken directly to the available courses
   
   

Taking a course through PESI 

1. Sign into your Headway linked PESI account
   1. Visit Headway Academy's PESI landing page
   2. Click the Log in button 
   3. Sign into your PESI account using the login information you linked with PESI + Headway
2. Search through the available courses 
3. Select the course you'd like to take 
   1. Click Launch to start the course 
   2. Click Save for Later to bookmark the course and come back to it
      
      

 

Earning CE credits with PESI

1. Complete a course in PESI
2. Take, and pass, the final assessment for the course
3. Submit a review of the course 
4. Download your certificate of completion

 

 

About Violet

Violet is "a cultural competence analytics and training platform that benchmarks and upskills providers, leading to improved quality of care and greater transparency across the health care industry."

Through Violet, you can access 50+ hours of accredited courses to fulfill CE/CME requirements to ensure culturally responsive care when working with BIPOC, LGBQ, and TGNC communities, those who are diabetic, and individuals who are neurodivergent. Violet offers benchmarks and upskills providers that lead to improved quality of care and greater transparency across the healthcare industry.

Accessing Violet

If you have a Headway provider portal log in

1. Visit Headway Academy's Violet landing page
2. Click Log in to Violet
3. Enter your Headway provider portal log in information – email and password
   • Note: This is a single sign-on (SSO) connection, meaning you'll use the same username and password for your Headway account and for Violet. By logging in, you understand and agree to sharing your personal information (including email, name, and NPI number) with Violet to be used in their provided services  (subject to terms outlined in Violet’s Privacy Policy).
4. If it's your first time using Violet:
   • You'll go through Violet's onboarding to set up your account 
   • You'll receive your initial Benchmarks
5. If you've logged in before: 
   • You'll be brought directly to your Violet account
     
     

Note: If you receive an SSO error message with Violet, clear your browser cache and try again.

If you do not have a Headway provider portal log in

1. Request a Violet account by filling out our Violet access request form
2. Once it has been submitted, you'll receive an email from Violet within 1-2 business days to create your account
3. Once your account has been created, you can log in to access Violet
   
   

Taking a course and earning your CE/CME credits through Violet

Before proceeding, make sure you're logged into Violet. 

1. While logged in, click the Education tab in the left navigation bar
2. To browse available courses: 
   • You'll automatically be brought to the Collections page, to browse collections of courses 
   • Click All education at the top of the page to look through all available courses 
   • Use the search, or filters, to look for specific courses you'd like to take 
3. To view approved accrediting organizations: 
   1. Click Start on a collection 
   2. Hover your mouse over the question mark symbol next to View approved accrediting organizations
4. To take a course: 
   1. Click Start on a collection 
   2. Click View on the specific course you'd like to take 
   3. Click Access education to begin 
5. Once you've completed a course, you can download the completion certificate
   
   Note: Progress in a course is automatically saved and you can come back and complete any course you’ve already started.
