Calling your insurance company

You may want to reach out directly to your insurance company to clarify exactly what your plan covers and how much you’ll need to pay for sessions on Headway.

Your insurance company's member or customer service can help you get the information you need. The phone number to call will be listed on the back of your insurance card. 

Some questions you can ask: 

• Are mental health services covered under my plan?

• What specific mental health services are covered (therapy, counseling, psychiatrist visits, etc.)?

• What is my copay or coinsurance for mental health visits?

• Is there a deductible I need to meet before coverage kicks in for mental health services?

• How much does my insurance cover for each session or visit?

Verifying if Headway is in network with your plan

To verify if Headway is in network with your plan, you'll need to call your insurance company's member services or customer service number; you can locate this on the back of your insurance card.

What you'll need to make the call

• Your insurance card (they'll ask for your member ID and date of birth) 
• Headway's information for your state
  • Headway's group name
  • Headway's Tax ID Number (TIN) and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Headway's address

What to ask when you're on the phone 

Once you're speaking with a representative at your insurance company, you can say the following:

"Can you please verify whether a provider group is in network with my plan? I have the provider group's name, NPI, Tax ID number, and address."

From there, the representative should ask for everything they need to verify if we are in network with your plan.

Before hanging up, be sure to get your call reference number from the agent. The call reference number helps our team, if we need to reach back out to your insurance carrier – you'll need to include this number in your response to Headway.
